At Blue & Co., we believe that supporting our communities is as important as the work we do for our clients. This year, our Southern Indiana offices participated in the Indiana CPA Society’s Day of Service with a commitment to making a meaningful impact.
While the official CPA Day of Service took place on Friday, September 27, we were eager to extend our efforts throughout the month by volunteering at two local organizations: Sans Souci in Columbus, IN, and Anchor House in Seymour, IN. As responsive, caring advocates, we chose these organizations because they are pillars of support in our communities. Our teams were proud to roll up their sleeves and help.
Sans Souci is a nonprofit thrift store that provides low-cost items to individuals and families in need, with a mission to reduce barriers to self-sufficiency. Our Blue & Co. team in Columbus spent the day sorting and hanging clothes, organizing books, and assisting in the thrift store.
Jarod Buchta of the Columbus, IN, office shared, “Sans Souci has made such a positive impact on our community over the past 45 years, and it was great to be able to give back to an organization that has given to so many of our neighbors. I was very grateful for the opportunity to help and proud of what our team was able to accomplish while we were there.”

Anchor House is a community shelter and food pantry that provides temporary housing and resources to families facing homelessness. Our team in Seymour got their hands dirty, spreading mulch, pulling weeds, cleaning apartments, and even pressure washing the fence to create a welcoming environment for the families that rely on Anchor House.
Natasha Miller of the Seymour, IN, office shared, “Volunteering at the Anchor House was important to me because of everything they do for the community. As a wife of a first responder, I hear firsthand the need for housing and food in our county. Anchor House is Jackson County’s only shelter (and apartments) for the community’s unhoused. They also provide a pantry serving the community twice weekly. They offer support to their residents to try to get them back on their feet and to get housing of their own.”

The Indiana CPA Society’s Day of Service is an annual event that encourages CPA firms across the state to get involved in their local communities through volunteer work. It’s a day for giving back, building connections, and making a positive impact. Blue & Co. is proud to participate and continue fostering a spirit of service within our firm. Although we chose different dates for our activities, our commitment to service remains at the heart of everything we do.
