At the time of our interview, Abbi Cash was a Staff Accountant at Blue & Co. in Lexington, KY. As of Aug. 2023, she has been promoted to Senior Accountant and works remotely.
Cash was an intern during the COVID-19 pandemic and experienced many changes in the working environment, but enjoyed the time she spent as an intern because of Blue's flexibility. She is now a full-time remote employee for Blue as her and her family move around the country for military obligations.

What made you decide to accept your offer with Blue?
Abbi Cash (A.C.)
I accepted the offer with Blue just because, through my internship, I felt very comfortable with the team here, and I felt very integrated into the workplace. And I just felt like it was going to be a good fit for me, to have a full-time position. And I just really enjoyed it, so I wanted to see where it would go.

What would you tell interns who are just starting out at Blue?
A.C.
I would say that they should embrace the whole experience. It's very new, and different, and can be scary and a little bit intimidating, just because you're not familiar with what you're doing yet. But there's a lot of opportunity for growth, and a lot of challenges that will help you learn more about yourself and the profession as well.
Blue
Great. What advice would you give to your younger self when it comes to getting internships and going through that process?
A.C.
I would say that going through the internship process, just be confident in who you are, and what you want out of an internship experience. And then once you do have an internship, I would say the biggest thing is to not be afraid to ask questions. That's still something that I remind myself every day. There's a lot to learn, and you're not going to know everything. So just feel free to reach out. And make connections, and collaborate with other people.

Is there anything else that you'd like to share with us about your experience with Blue, your internship, or just your new position with us?
A.C.
I have a very unique situation with work-life balance, just because my husband is active-duty military. So, it's very atypical, but I'm just very grateful for the support and flexibility that Blue has shown.
