At Blue, we believe in making a positive impact not only within the financial services industry but also in the lives of those around us. Staff members from our Southern Indiana offices recently participated in two community service outings at two local organizations as part of their CPA Day of Service.

Blue staff members from the Columbus, IN office tidied up shelves, placed fallen clothing on hangers and sorted clothing onto hangers for sale at Sans Souci.

In Columbus, IN, staff members volunteered at Sans Souci, a non-profit organization whose name translates to ‘without worry’ in French. The organization accepts donations of second hand items and resells them at affordable rates to the community.

Sans Souci also provides jobs and job training to those facing employment issues due to disabilities, criminal history, substance abuse recovery and educational barriers.

Meanwhile, Seymour, IN, staff members volunteered at the Jackson County Humane Society. Blue staff members spent the afternoon repainting the entryway, cleaning the front of the building, and acclimating five new German shepherd puppies to grass for the first time.

The humane society places dogs with new owners, holds dogs that are ‘known’ to the shelter, and gives out dog and cat food to those in need.

Audit Manager, Natasha Miller was among the volunteers from the Seymour office that spent time at the Jackson County Humane Society. It was Miller’s first visit to the humane society.

“I am a dog lover and am someone that considers pets part of my family,” said Miller, “So, my favorite part of the day was getting to play with the five adorable German Shepherd puppies!”

The five German Shepherd puppies are in a program that checks their readiness for service dog work. Volunteers from Blue completed an important task for the puppies by acquainting them with strangers and introducing the puppies to grass for the very first time.

Miller is an active volunteer in Jackson County and is glad to be a part of an organization that allows employees to spend time serving their communities.

“I am very passionate about volunteering,” continued Miller. “Volunteering makes me feel like I am involved and helping to make a difference. I am grateful that Blue supports community service!”
